Managing Diabetes in the School Setting

What: This seminar helps prepare school nurses to meet the needs of students with diabetes. Current standards of diabetes practice, nutritional management of diabetes, and psychosocial issues of diabetes will be discussed. Our program will also include skills training such as insulin administration using pumps and injections, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, and glucagon.
At the completion of this seminar, you will be able to:
• Understand and be prepared for the special needs of the student with diabetes
• Increase and update your knowledge of current pediatric type 1 and type 2 diabetes management.
• Be able to create a safe and positive learning environment for each student with diabetes.
