La Rabida recently hosted a two-day workshop on the latest taping techniques, “Pediatric Therapeutic Taping for Improved Alignment and Neuromuscular Re-Education.” The course sold out in record time at 31 participants and had a waiting list. Attendees came from as far away as Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
The conference examined the use of static and dynamic taping techniques to facilitate improved alignment and muscle re-education for function in the pediatric population. Attendees received continuing education units for OT/PT and early intervention. The course focused on the use of taping techniques in the treatment of children with alignment issues and neurologic involvement.
Course evaluation comments gave the workshop five stars. Kudos included “The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating - from the front receptionist, to the therapists to the department head,” and “Speakers were helpful, informative, knowledgeable and easy to follow.”
Instructors for the course were Audrey Yasukawa, OT, certified Kinesio Tape instructor and chief of occupational therapy at La Rabida, and Patricia Martin, PT, certified Kinesio Tape instructor, manager of satellite therapy services at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for rehabilitation.
