Take a Step to Help a Child
Thursday April 8th, 2010
Join scores of walkers and runners for the 3rd Annual Champions for Children Walk on May 15, 2010 to raise money for the La Rabida Joli Burrell Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) in Park Forest and 27 other CACs across the state for child abuse prevention.
Walkers will meet and depart from the Park Forest Aqua Center, 30 N. Orchard, in Park Forest at 9 a.m.
Organizers are hoping to raise $40,000 for the La Rabida Joli Burrell Children's Advocacy Center, a safe, child-friendly environment for children who have experienced psychological trauma and for alleged victims of sexual abuse and other violent crimes. The CAC provides investigative, therapeutic and support services free of charge to children and their families throughout South Suburban Cook County.
La Rabida is a pediatric specialty hospital that provides care for children with chronic illnesses, developmental delays and who have suffered trauma. Behavoiral and mental health specialists provide assessment and psychotherapy to more than 400 children each year as part of the Chicago Child Trauma Center, which includes the Joli Burrell center.
