Save-the-Date La Rabida Children's Hospital Presents October 10 Conference: Life on a Vent

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is presenting a conference October 10 for health care professionals and educators entitled, “Life on a Vent: A Hospital’s 25 year Perspective on Transitioning from Hospital to Home.” September 26 is the registration deadline.

The conference objective is to increase the awareness and understanding of the complex management issues surrounding the child who is on a ventilator and their transition from the hospital to the home.

The daylong event will feature discussions and information sessions led by an interdisciplinary staff of physicians, therapists and nurses from La Rabida Children’s Hospital. Session topics will include:

Thirteen experts, including Pediatric Pulmonary Disease Specialist Rajinder Arora, M.D., and Pediatric Asthma Specialist Raoul Wolf, M.D., will address the conference, which is targeting case managers, rehabilitation therapists, nursing professionals, educators, program specialists, service coordinators and social workers.

Applications for approval of nursing and respirator contact hours have been submitted to the Illinois Nurses Association Approver Unit. The National Association of Social Work, Illinois Chapter also is considering continuing education credits.

The $100 registration fee includes continental breakfast and lunch. The event will be held at Maggiano’s Little Italy, 516 N. Grand Avenue, Chicago.
