Robert Arthur, Nuria Fernandez, and Randy Markowitz Join La Rabida's Board of Trustees

Professionals from the industries of steel, engineering and public accounting have joined La Rabida Children's Hospital's board of trustees, expanding its scope and drawing on more than 50 years of business experience.
 
Bob Arthur, President of global steel distributor Magellan Corporation, has led the Northbrook-based company since 1986.  Arthur is also one of the principals of a dry bulk shipping company that owns and operates marine cargo vessels and deep water terminals.
 
Arthur, a Deerfield native, is a longtime supporter of La Rabida, co-chairing the Friends of La Rabida Gala for two years.

Nuria Fernandez, Senior Vice President of CH2M Hill, is a civil engineer with an extensive record of accomplishments in public policy, transportation management and business development.

At CH2M Hill, a Fortune 500 engineering firm that specializes in environmental, civil infrastructure, industrial and energy services, Fernandez directs international business development and global sales for the company’s multi-billion infrastructure business in Europe and Latin America.

Before joining CH2M in 2008, Fernandez served as Commissioner for Chicago’s Department of Aviation. There, she oversaw  an  $800 million-budget and the operations of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and Midway  International Airports.    Under her leadership, O’Hare consistently earned national awards for best airport in North America.

Fernandez also served in leadership roles at  the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Chicago Transit Authority.

She holds an MBA from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Bradley University.

Randy Markowitz is a Partner in the accounting and consulting firm of FGMK, LLC, located in Bannockburn, Illinois, where he specializes in business an tax planning for a variety of middle market companies and business owners.

Markowitz is a longtime supporter of La Rabida and served on its Business
Council. A Long Grove native, Markowitz is an Illinois Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of DePaul University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. 

Each trustee will serve three-year terms.
