"Often you see everyone as hostile:" Brad Stolbach on the impact of chronic violence.

Monday February 13th, 2012

Brad Stolbach, Ph.D., is quoted in a Frontline story on the long-term effects children and adults suffer from being exposed to chronic violence. The story was written by the producer of The Interrupters, a documentary that chronicles the post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms people experience living in communities plagued by crime. Stolbach discusses how children often lose the ability to "read" people. “One of the things that gets destroyed from ongoing trauma is the capacity to know whether or not there’s safety or danger around you . . . often you see everyone as hostile." PBS stations will air The Interrupters on Tuesday, Feb.,14.
