La Rabida to Host the 6th Annual Lace & Pearls Lawn Fete on July 22

Wednesday July 21st, 2010

Notes of classical music wafting through the summer air will create an enchanting background as supporters gather at La Rabida on Thursday, July 22 for the 6th Annual Lace and Pearls Lawn Fête fundraiser.

An evening of outdoor elegance to include dining, dancing and performances sure to delight is set to unfold on La Rabida’s scenic lakeside playground from 6 to 9 p.m.

Performances by Chicago’s very own children
South Shore Drill team, an award-winning performing arts ensemble of teens and pre-teens, and Sugar Strings, a classical trio of girls, are slated to perform traditional tunes with a twist.

Later, guitarist Joey Edwin and his band promise to pull guests from their seats with Latin rhythms and adult contemporary music.

Delightful buffet
Chicago’s culinary celebrities will offer unique gourmet fare.  Chefs will include those from la petite folie of Hyde Park, Wishbone, Friendship Chinese Restaurant, and La Rabida itself.  La Rabida longstanding supporter Chef Morrie Elstien will also please the palates of guests.

This year’s beverage sponsor is Goose Island Brewery.

Event Co-Chairs
Kathy Berglund, Cindi Elstien, and Valerie Ware co-chair Lace and Pearls which draws its inspiration from fêtes hosted at the dawn of the 20th century.  Some guests continue the tradition of dressing in lace and pearls for the event today.
