Monday October 26th, 2009
La Rabida Children’s Hospital recently received major gifts to support programs, services, and capital improvements at the southside specialty hospital.
Gloh Estate
From the estate of Robert and Mary Ann Gloh, La Rabida received $1.33 million, the single largest gift from a private donor in its 113-year history.
According to Sharon Wood, executor of the Gloh estate, Robert and Mary wanted to continue the good work of La Rabida, which they supported since 1986.
Alvin H. Baum Family Fund
The Alvin H. Baum Family Fund has distributed $500,000 to La Rabida to support hospital renovation projects and other capital improvements.
The Baum Family fund’s gift is the latest in a series that began in 2005 with a $10,000 gift to fund camp scholarships which allowed children with diabetes, sickle cell disease, and other chronic conditions to unite with other children who shared their illness.
