La Rabida Launches New Inpatient Wing

La Rabida is celebrating the launch of the S.S. La Rabida, a multi-million dollar renovation of the hospital's south wing.
WHO: The Board of Trustees, Executive leadership, and Honored guests.
WHAT: La Rabida is hosting a V.I.P. launch ceremony to christen its South Deck, a new $5 million inpatient wing with one double occupancy and 10 single rooms. Food and tours will follow.
WHAT: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 8:30 a.m.
WHERE: La Rabida Children’s Hospital, East 65th Street at Lake Michigan
WHY: The completion of the wing marks the second and final phase of renovation that began with the 2001 opening of the S.S. La Rabida, a 37-bed unit designed as a cruise ship. “Cabins” with porthole views delight young “passengers.’’ The similarly designed South Deck is equipped with state-of-the art equipment to meet an increased demand for private rooms by technology-dependent children who require isolation.
