La Rabida Children's Hospital Hosts A Celebration of Friends on October 29

(CHICAGO – Sept. 1, 2010) The Friends of La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hosting its 24th annual fundraiser -- A Celebration of Friends on Friday, October 29, 2010, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. Proceeds will benefit hospital programs and services for families and children with special healthcare needs.
 
Honoring Community, Corporate, and Civic Leaders
The 2010 Friends of La Rabida Award will be presented to three individuals who are celebrated in their respective fields as visionaries who embody a spirit of giving to enrich the lives of others.
 
The 2010 Friends of La Rabida Award recipients are:
 
·       Gary Brinson, founder of the Brinson Foundation and Chicago-based Brinson Partners, asset managers later acquired by Swiss Bank Corporation, for Humanitarian Vision
 
·       CVS Caremark, La Rabida’s charity partner, for Corporate Involvement. Larry J. Merlo, President and Chief Operating Officer and incoming 2011 CEO, will be accepting the award.
 
·       Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State who has served in public office for more than three decades, for Public Service
 
Awards Event Chairpersons
The event is co-chaired by Howard Alper, Founder, Alper Services; Robert Arthur, President, Magellan Corporation; Joe Gregoire, President, National City/PNC; Jim McKinney, William Blair and Co.; and Bruce Pfaff, Pfaff & Gill, Ltd.

Tickets for A Celebration of Friends are $500 per person. Guests will enjoy a magical cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and awards at 8 p.m. The evening will also include a silent auction and dancing. The dress is business attire.  The Stu Hirsch Orchestra will provide entertainment following dinner.
