James Gillespie and Alexander Lourie Join La Rabida Children's Hospital Board of Trustees

An educator/health care consultant and an international attorney have joined the board of La Rabida Children’s Hospital, bringing 30 years of national and global experience from academic, information technology and legal arenas. Each will serve a three-year term.

James Gillespie, PhD of New Buffalo, MI, is professor of business at the University of Illinois at Chicago and senior consultant at ThoughtWorks, Inc., a global information technology consulting operation that works across industry lines. Gillespie’s focus is health care information strategies.

Gillespie has a broad base of experience, drawing from education, and health care, legal and military backgrounds. Before joining the Department of Managerial Studies at U of I, Gillespie had worked in the College of Law at Chicago Kent State University at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Gillespie also served as a lecturer at the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University, from which he earned a PhD in 2007.

In addition, Gillespie holds a Master’s of Public Administration from Princeton University and a JD degree from Harvard University.

Alexander “Sandy” Lourie of Chicago is a partner with Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP, where he specializes in securities, general corporate and international law.

Lourie is co-chair of the firm’s corporate and securities group, which provides clients legal counsel on domestic and international corporate ventures, including mergers and corporate financing, and public offerings.

Lourie holds a JD degree from the University of Chicago Law School and an MBA from the University of Chicago School of Business.
